Article 56 [Deprivation of Political Rights as an Accessory or Independent Penalty] Deprivation of political rights shall be imposed on an offender who has committed a crime that threatens national security, or may be imposed on an offender who has committed the crime of intentional homicide, rape, arson, causing an explosion, placing poison, robbery, or other crimes that seriously disrupt social order, as an accessory penalty.
The imposition of deprivation of political rights as an independent penalty shall be governed by the Special Provisions of this Law.
