Article 143 [Producing or Selling Food That Does Not Meet Safety Standards] A person who produces or sells food that does not meet the food safety standards shall be sentenced to imprisonment of not more than three years or custody and a fine if the offense is sufficient to cause serious food poisoning accidents or other serious foodborne diseases, or to imprisonment of not less than three years but not more than seven years and a fine if the offense causes serious damage to human health or is committed under other serious circumstances, or to imprisonment of not less than seven years or life imprisonment and a fine or forfeiture of property if the consequences are particularly serious.
